Tip #1 - Buy things from your travels

You can find accessories in unexpected places like museums or even the convenience store. If you're visiting a museum, look for prints & artist coffee table books. Visit antique stores and look for pottery or other handmade items.

A cute tea towel I bought while in Coronado and art that I picked up in Palm Springs.

Tip #2 - Collect "free" items to decorate your home

It sounds simple, but I think that collecting something from the Earth can be really meaningful and “free” (ex. stones, rocks, seashells, pressed flowers, stems).

My living room shelves accessorized with a bowl of shells from a vacation, a rock as a book topper, and dried branches cut from a tree near my house.

Tip #3 - Go thrifting or shop at vintage stores

Some of my very favorite accessories in my home are vintage pieces. I love the character that they bring into a home.

Tip #4 - Revisit things you've stored away

Sometimes it's easy to shy away from using things in our homes that don't quite fit the style or aesthetic (heirlooms, art created by relatives/kids, etc).

Instead of hiding these items in a closet, finding a way to incorporate them into your home creates a much more meaningful space.
