Grout color has been the #1 question we’ve gotten over the last few months, which was a bit of a surprise to me at first because it seems like a small detail, but it really does make a big difference in the finished look of your tile. One of our earlier Substack posts is all about choosing a tile grout and would be great to read in conjunction with this post (you can read that here).

While the grout color you choose really does depend on the tile and the look that you’re going for, over the past 12 years of choosing grout for projects, I’ve found some tried and true colors that work with almost any tile and have become my go-tos. So, without further ado, here are my top 7 Mapei grout colors.

#1 Warm Gray

I put this color as #1 for a reason and that’s because we’ve used it more than any other color in this list. It goes well with marble, colored tiles, white subway tiles—basically everything and looks subtle while still giving some dimension.
