Tasteful + Easy Ways to Create a Personal Tablescape
and a sneak peek of our newest product!
It’s holiday time and that means that most of us are likely to host at least one get together during this season. The one thing I always try to focus on when I’m hosting is how to make it feel personal and special for my guests. I think it’s in the small, thoughtful, and usually quite simple touches that really make a dinner or event feel special. Here are some simple ways to inspire your table décor and make your gathering feel one-of-a-kind.
handwritten name cards
This one is pretty simple, but in our digital age, a handwritten name card adds a personal touch that technology can’t replicate. Even if they aren’t handwritten, having name cards shows your guests that you’ve been thoughtful and planned for each one of them.
incorporate natural elements
For our fall tablescape we used small vegetables (brussel sprouts, radishes, small potatoes, etc.) as name card holders—this small detail is a playful way of displaying names. It’s a cute detail that takes minimal effort (my favorite kind). If you want to do something a little bit simpler, consider using fresh herbs like rosemary or holly to attach to name cards. You could also incorporate a simple flower arrangement or a bowl of fruit to add some color and variety to the table.

feature family recipes on the menu
Nothing brings people together quite like food, especially when that food is a family tradition. We love the idea of creating a menu that highlights family recipes—it’s a fun conversation starter and puts more meaning behind the dishes that are being served. Taking an extra 30 minutes to write or print the menu will really make your event feel special and extra points if you want to include a copy of your favorite recipe for guests to take home.
use candlesticks for height and warmth
Candlesticks are a classic choice for adding height, warmth and ambiance to your tablescape. Candlelight always sets a cozy, intimate mood and enhances the overall experience at the table.
Here’s our shameless plug for our newest creation, The Chadwick Candle Holder. The Chadwick was inspired by an antique candle holder designed by William Arthur Benson. We gave this classic piece our own modern twist and are so excited to offer it now—just in time for the holidays!
putting it all together
When designing your tablescape, consider the overall aesthetic and theme you want to convey. Choose a color palette that complements your dinnerware and linens, and arrange your natural elements, name cards, menus, and candlesticks in a way that feels balanced and inviting. Don’t forget to add a few finishing touches like a table runner or seasonal floral arrangements, to bring everything together.
Creating a personal tablescape is all about expressing your unique style while making your guests feel cherished. By incorporating natural elements, handwritten details, family recipes, and the warm glow of candles, you’ll craft an inviting and memorable dining experience that everyone will cherish. So gather your favorite items, get creative, and let your tablescape tell a story of its own. Happy hosting!
