Places You Didn't Know You Needed Electrical
6 places to wire for to make your life easier
It’s easy to overlook where you may need to wire for outlets in your home until it’s too late. Here are six places we would recommend putting outlets if you can.
The Floor - Outlets on the floor are often forgotten but are so important for floor lamps and table lamps. This applies mostly to new construction and gut remodels where the floor will be pulled up as it’s very difficult to add outlets after floors are in.
Because the desk in this room isn't next to any walls, we used a floor outlet to plug in the desk lamp.
On each side of the bed - Having a charger on each side of the bed is so helpful for charging your phone at night and plugging in table lamps. You'll want to plan the position of your bed in your bedroom so that you can place the outlets accordingly.
Near your sofa - In the age of technology, having outlets near your sofa is almost a necessity. They're great not only for charging phones and laptops, but again for plugging in table lamps and floor lamps.
Inside drawers (for a charging station) - Charging stations are a great way to keep electronics hidden/organized while charging and storing them.
Pantry - If you have a pantry that has countertop space, having outlets there is always a good idea for your small appliances (toaster, blender, etc.).
Closets - Outlets in closets are great for charging cordless vacuums while they're not being used.
