Introducing The Bedford II Sconce
the newest addition to our W.D.C. Home core collection
Introducing the Bedford II—a historic fixture originally designed by Authentic Designs, reimagined with a few thoughtful updates. Scaled up from the original, it was designed to feel at home in larger applications—whether flanking artwork or lining a staircase.
I’ve been especially excited about this launch because this sconce was such an intentional addition to our collection. We were sourcing a larger-scale fixture for a project in Bedford, New York (which made the name feel especially fitting), and we were having a hard time finding the right piece. When we came across the original Bedford Sconce from Authentic Designs, it immediately felt like a good starting point.
From there, we worked with the team at Authentic to refine it, adjusting the scale to better suit our project and reworking a few details, like the cup and proportions, so it felt more aligned with our collection as a whole. I’m really excited about what we landed on: something classic and timeless, with the same sense of restraint and character that makes the Arlington and Dorset feel so enduring.
That process also pushed us to think more about customization across our lighting line. With the launch of the Bedford II, we’re now offering candle sleeve finish selections, allowing for a bit more flexibility and personalization. Whether you prefer a matching sleeve, something more tonal, or an off-white for a more traditional look, there’s now a little more room to tailor the piece to your space.
We’ve also expanded customization on the Arlington, which is now available with a frosted glass option and a shorter glass sleeve for a slightly different feel.
We want these fixtures to work beautifully in your homes and feel adaptable to the way you live. We hope that these updates make our lighting feel even more versatile and give you a little more freedom to make each piece your own.
