Today we’re sharing pt. 2 of one of our most popular posts from a few months back—if you missed that one, you can read it here.
#1—Patterned Tile on the Wall
One of the most charming additions to a kitchen or bathroom. This design choice feels very “English” to me and I think that’s why I love it so much.

#2—Fabric Behind a Glass Cabinet Front
A great way to add some texture and pattern to a wall of cabinetry/closet while still keeping it functional. I love how it really elevates a space and adds a bit of a feminine touch.

#3—Non-wired Candle Sconces
It’s probably no secret that we love this design choice (it’s one of the reasons we created our Lucca Sconce). It’s not only very historic and timeless, but gives you an option for pretty lighting without having to have wired for sconces previously.

#4—Plates as Art
I think this is such a fun trend because it’s something that is so inexpensive and a great way to display family heirlooms/china that have been passed down. I love how adding plates to an otherwise blank wall adds texture and depth and creates a “cottage” or “country” feel.

#5—Stone Flooring
I love the look of stone flooring, especially in mudrooms, kitchens, and bathrooms - limestone and bluestone are two of my favorites. Although it can be a pricier option, natural stones are incredibly durable and make a space feel earthy and organic.

#6—“Grandma” Floral Prints
I like to have a little bit more of an edited approach to this trend. Putting a floral pattern on something with more of a modern silhouette or using it as a pillow on a modern sofa can help the pattern to feel a little more balanced and not outdated.

#7—Painted Wood Floors
Painted wood floors were common in 19th century homes because the paint helped to both seal the soft flooring and make them a little bit easier to clean. Although painting isn’t necessary now, it’s a great way to give old/worn floors new life or to make your space feel a little bit more charming. I love the idea of “historic” stenciled floor paint like the photo on the right.

We’d love to hear of any historic trends that are coming back that we missed! Send us your ideas and let us know if we should do a part three!
I am SO on board with all of these coming back!
I’m curious if you have any tiles like the above examples you love? I’m so excited for this to come back too!
