This has been one of our most requested Good to Know topics and for good reason. Rooms with two-story ceilings are difficult to design and decorate well because they don’t lend themselves to human-scale and often feel empty because there typically is a lot of blank wall space. We like a tall ceiling because it can make a space feel grand and beautiful, however most people also want it to be a comfortable space to be in. We thought it would be helpful to show example photos and point out why some two-story rooms feel better than others.

There are 4 things I would add to a space with 2-story ceilings to help with the overall design and feeling: wall paneling, window treatments, art, and light fixtures.
