Do You Own Your Home or Does It Own You?
The way you value your home might change the way you live there.
If your home owns you...
You prioritize protecting the things in your home over living comfortably in your home.
Normal wear and tear is uncomfortable for you.
The people who live in your home are fearful of your reaction if something were to get damaged.
If you own your home...
You prioritize feeling comfortable in your home even if it means things will wear out faster.
When things get damaged, it's not the end of the world.
You believe in taking care of your home but don't let it consume you.
A lot of us fall into the first category because things in our homes are typically expensive which makes us more invested in maintaining their value.
As with all things in life, we feel like balance is the goal. We believe you can have a nice home without feeling like it owns you.
Our homes are valuable for so many reasons but I would argue that the greatest value they offer is having a safe space for all those who live there.
